‘Gyeongseong Creature’: Hit Korean Mystery Series Drops Season 2 Trailer

Netflix has unveiled a trailer for its popular Korean mystery series “Gyeongseong Creature” in anticipation of the release of its second season on September 27.

The debut season of the show was set in 1945, during the period of Japanese occupation of Seoul, which was then called Gyeongseong. The storyline revolves around the Imperial Army’s cruel biological experiments on humans that inadvertently unleashed a monstrous creature.

The second season shifts to present-day Seoul, focusing on Chae-ok (played by Han So-hee) as she crosses paths with Ho-jae (played by Park Seo-jun), who bears a striking resemblance to a man she encountered in 1945.

This season also introduces two significant new characters. One of them is Seung-jo, a mysterious agent for Jeonseung Biotech, which was previously Ongseong Hospital in the first season. This character is portrayed by Bae Hyeon-seong, known for his roles in “Our Blues” and “Hospital Playlist.”

The other new character, played by Lee Mu-saeng (“The Glory,” “The Silent Sea”), is a scientist in the labs of Jeonseung Biotech who devises a dark plan to replicate the experiments from 1945.

Directed by Chung Dong-yoon and written by Kang Eun-kyung, the series is produced by Story&Pictures Media, a part of Kakao Entertainment, in co-production with CJ ENM’s Studio Dragon.

The first season, released at the end of 2023, spent four weeks in Netflix’s global top ten TV (non-English) list and made it to the top ten rankings in 69 countries.

In addition to “Gyeongseong Creature,” Netflix’s returning Korean scripted content this year includes several highly anticipated series. The third and final season of “Sweet Home” was released in July, while new seasons of “Hellbound,” “Zombieverse,” and the much-awaited “Squid Game” are also on the horizon. In the unscripted genre, a new season of “Physical 100” is also expected.
