Halle Berry Accuses Ex Olivier Martinez of Delaying Co-Parenting Therapy: Court Docs

Halle Berry is asserting that her ex-husband, Olivier Martinez, is attempting to delay completing their agreed-upon therapy sessions intended for co-parenting their 10-year-old son, Maceo, by taking the summer off for travel.

Berry, 57, has requested court intervention to ensure that the co-parenting agreement is adhered to. The actress claims Martinez, 58, decided to postpone their co-parenting therapy until September because of his travel plans to France in July and his brother’s visit to Los Angeles in August.

The couple, married from 2013 to 2016, has experienced a tumultuous divorce battle that lasted until 2023. In May, the “X-Men” actress and Martinez reached a new co-parenting agreement. As per the agreement, they both committed to attending sessions with a co-parenting coach, including two individual sessions and at least six joint sessions.

Berry’s current partner, Van Hunt, is also allowed to join the joint sessions. The couple, who share the cost of the sessions, were supposed to complete the six sessions by June 2024. However, Berry claims that Martinez decided to travel instead of participating in the sessions. According to legal documents filed in Los Angeles last week, the co-parenting therapy was supposed to start immediately, but as of July 2024, they have not even begun.

The documents state that Martinez has effectively decided to take “the summer off,” despite all co-parenting sessions being held via Zoom. Berry has attempted to foster a better co-parenting relationship, but alleges that Martinez’s actions have been marked by resistance and conflict.

The actress contends that Martinez has repeatedly violated agreements and court orders, showing a careless disregard for their legally binding agreements. She states that his conduct is harmful to their son, Maceo, and exacerbates the already strained relationship between the two parents.

Berry wants a judge to compel Martinez to adhere to their agreed-upon schedule. However, Martinez has countered her allegations, claiming that Berry filed her request with knowledge of his travel plans. He asserts that Berry is using her resources and legal team to harass and force him into submission, as reported by InTouch.

Martinez has asked the judge to deny Berry’s request. Meanwhile, representatives for both Berry and Martinez have been contacted for comments.

The couple separated in October 2015, after two years of marriage. It took nearly eight years, until August 2023, to finalize their divorce and custody arrangements. They were granted joint legal custody of their son, and Berry agreed to pay Martinez $8,000 monthly in child support. Additionally, the actress agreed to cover private school tuition, school uniforms, and supplies for Maceo, with payments going directly to the school.

Berry also shares a 16-year-old daughter, Nahla, with her ex-boyfriend Gabriel Aubry, whom she dated from 2005 to 2010.
