Heavy rainfall and significant snowfall expected in Colorado

A strong moisture-packed storm is moving into the Rockies this weekend, bringing heavy amounts of rain and snow. Drenching rains will start over the plains and Front Range Friday night, with heavy, wet snow accumulating in the mountains. The Denver metro area and I-25 Urban corridor will see heavy rain all day Saturday into Sunday, with some areas possibly seeing 1 to 3 inches of rain. Winter Weather Advisories are in effect for areas like Castle Pines, Castle Rock, and Colorado Springs for 3 to 8 inches of snow. Higher elevations could see up to 3 feet of snow, with the storm expected to clear out by Sunday morning. Warmer and drier weather will move in for Monday and Tuesday.
