House of the Dragon S2E5 Reveals Aegon II’s Fate

Aegon is taking a break from his kingly duties, leaving Aemond to run the show in his place. This change, regardless of how Alicent might feel about it, will put the Greens in a better position than before. Aemond, a skilled tactician and one of the best fighters in “House of the Dragon,” is more capable of holding his own compared to Aegon, who has a bratty streak that’s arguably worse than “Game of Thrones'” notorious villain, Joffrey. While those seated at the council were wary of making the wrong move in supporting Aemond, the choice was clear. However, with such power, there’s always the reluctance to give it back.

When Aegon regains consciousness, the dynamic between the brothers will likely resemble that of their father, Viserys (Paddy Considine), and Daemon (Matt Reeves) during the turbulent times of the Iron Throne. Aegon, confined to bed and recovering, and Aemond, thriving in his new role, set the stage for an imminent conflict upon Aegon’s return. Their lack of their father’s restraint and calm could spell more trouble for the Greens. We’ll have to wait and see if this brotherly dispute unfolds when “House of the Dragon” returns next week.
