How many Walking Dead spinoffs will debut in 2024?

AMC has truly built a powerful franchise with The Walking Dead series and its spinoffs. Fans were understandably saddened when the original series wrapped up with its 11th season in 2022. The demand for more stories set in this post-apocalyptic world remains high, and many are curious about which spinoffs might return with new seasons in 2024.

In February 2024, AMC introduced The Walking Dead: The Ones Who Live, the much-anticipated Rick and Michonne spinoff. This limited series focused on the enduring love story between Rick Grimes (Andrew Lincoln) and Michonne (Danai Gurira), and their crucial role in combating the CRM (Civic Republic Military). The series also featured Jadis (Pollyanna McIntosh) and included a surprise appearance by Father Gabriel (Seth Gilliam), who had past interactions with Jadis. The show satisfied fans’ desires, highlighting the emotional reunion of Rick and Michonne with their children, Judith (Cailey Fleming) and RJ (Antony Azor).

Another major spinoff is The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon, focusing on the beloved character Daryl Dixon (Norman Reedus). This series follows Daryl’s involuntary journey to France. Despite his plans to return home, he encounters the Union of Hope, a group in desperate need of his help to transport a boy they believe is key to humanity’s survival.

The series has been renewed for a second season, titled The Book of Carol, which will see Melissa McBride reprise her role as Carol Peletier. This season will begin with Carol’s search for Daryl, who was supposed to return to the Commonwealth but never made it. Daryl remains in France, continuing his fight against the Power of the Living. Excitingly, the Daryl Dixon series has also been renewed for a third season, and Norman Reedus mentioned that a fourth season is highly likely.

The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon – The Book of Carol is set to premiere on AMC and AMC+ on September 29, 2024.

Another spinoff, The Walking Dead: Dead City, which focuses on Maggie (Lauren Cohan) and Negan (Jeffrey Dean Morgan), has begun filming its second season. Production has shifted from New Jersey to Massachusetts, but fans will have to wait until 2025 for the next installment of the eight-episode season.

The second season of Dead City will see the return of key characters, including Maggie, Negan, Hershel (Logan Kim), The Croat (Željko Ivanek), The Dama (Lisa Emery), and Perlie Armstrong (Gaius Charles). Additionally, Kim Coates, known for his role in Sons of Anarchy, will join the cast as Bruegel, a ruthless gang leader in Manhattan.
