Ingrid Andress’ National Anthem Shines at MLB Home Run Derby

Before hitters could step into the batter’s box for the 2024 Home Run Derby and aim for the fences at Globe Life Field in Arlington, Texas, the usual pomp and circumstance that precedes major sporting events had to take place.

Major League Baseball might not have intended it, but the pregame ceremony certainly left an impression on those in attendance.

Following a high-energy and entertaining introduction of the eight Home Run Derby contestants by Marcello Hernández, an actor and comedian known for his work on “Saturday Night Live,” country music star Ingrid Andress took to the field to sing the national anthem.

Her rendition of “The Star-Spangled Banner” was, for lack of a better word, cringeworthy.

It’s worth noting that Andress is a professional singer and songwriter, who has been nominated for a Grammy four times.
