Iowa State University plans to close its Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion office this year as a result of directives from the Board of Regents to cut back spending. The university will be closing the office in July and eliminating five positions, two of which are currently filled. This decision is part of efforts to reduce spending across the state’s three public universities. The college’s response to the directives reflects a larger trend of budget cuts in the higher education sector.
