Apple TV+ is bringing back Jake Gyllenhaal for a second season of *Presumed Innocent*. Following the intense conclusion of season one, Apple TV+ promises that season two will “unfold around a suspenseful, brand-new case.”

Season one of *Presumed Innocent* premiered on June 12, 2024, with Gyllenhaal taking on the lead role of chief deputy prosecutor Rusty Sabich. The show boasted a star-studded ensemble cast, including Ruth Negga, Bill Camp, Elizabeth Marvel, Peter Sarsgaard, O-T Fagbenle, and Renate Reinsve.

“The series takes viewers on a gripping journey through the horrific murder that upends the Chicago Prosecuting Attorney’s office when one of its own is suspected of the crime. The series explores obsession, sex, politics, and the power and limits of love, as the accused fights to hold his family and marriage together,” reads the show’s synopsis.

Initially marketed as an eight-episode limited series, *Presumed Innocent* caught the attention of fans and critics, leading Apple TV+ to reconsider extending its run.

Boyd Hilton of *EMPIRE Magazine* praised the series as “a rare example of a TV drama which expands significantly on its original source material yet never feels baggy or indulgent, and will keep you guessing every step of the way.”

Dan Eivan of *Financial Times* added, “The show feels like a return to the kind of drama that was a staple of 1990s cinema: a gimmick-free, grown-up story driven by eternal human themes rather than timely social issues.”

The season one finale of *Presumed Innocent* is set to air on Apple TV+ on Wednesday, July 24. However, there has been no announcement regarding when production for season two will commence.
