James Broderick Looks Like Dad Matthew on Father-Son Outing with Sarah

It was a boys’ night out for Sarah Jessica Parker’s husband, Matthew Broderick, and their son, James Wilkie Broderick. Matthew, 62, and James, 21, decided to spend a part of their weekend at a New York Mets game. Both father and son are big baseball enthusiasts, a passion James often shares on his social media.

Over the weekend, James posted a selfie with his dad on his Instagram Stories, capturing the father-son duo dressed suitably for the game and the chilly weather. The photo highlighted their striking resemblance, particularly in their smiles and eyes, though James’ face shape seems to take after his mother, Sarah Jessica Parker.

This outing happened just days after James attended the opening night of “Oh, Mary!” at the Lyceum Theatre on Broadway with his dad and younger twin sisters, Tabitha and Marion, who also go by the nickname “Loretta.” The stylish family made an appearance, with James and Matthew dressed in smart suits, while the twins opted for flowy maxi dresses – one in a floral pastel green and the other in black.

The “Sex and the City” actress, Sarah Jessica Parker, has previously discussed parenting dynamics and how they change as children grow older. In an exclusive interview with HELLO! last year, she shared insights about raising her three children with Matthew and stressed that children often need their parents more as they age.

“I’m a parent first,” she explained. “I’m a mother of three children and I’ve discovered that they don’t need you less as they get older – they need you more. That’s a dominant, joyful part of my life but it’s also the most important.”

Sarah continued by discussing the different roles she fulfills, stating, “I’m a wife – I’ve been with my husband for 30 years – and I’m a friend and colleague. And a serious professional. I love what I do and the people I get to work with and for.”

She also imparted some valuable advice she gives to her children, emphasizing resilience and the importance of moving on from upsetting experiences. “I think staying too long in things that are upsetting hasn’t been helpful for me. I say this to my kids, too. You should feel upset if you have an unpleasant or disappointing experience: feel it, but what are the ways in which you can resurface? Where do you find your resilience?”

Adding to this, Sarah expressed the danger of staying in a negative mindset for too long and the necessity of moving forward. “There’s danger in sitting in the saddle of blue. For me, I have to say, ‘Okay, that happened – now what?'”

While Matthew and James share a love for baseball, Sarah treasures her unique bond with her daughters. As an ambassador for RoC, she delights in sharing skincare routines and products with them. “The girls are constantly in and out. They are [then 14], so I’m happy to share anything with them.”

As for Matthew, he enjoys his own skincare regime, sometimes to the envy of the rest of the family. “Matthew doesn’t take anything – he has such beautiful skin. He doesn’t go in the sun and he’s very good at sunscreen. One of my daughters is fair and one has an olive complexion, so they have different needs.”

Through balancing her roles as a mother, wife, and professional, Sarah Jessica Parker continues to prioritize what’s most important to her while embracing the growth and changes that come with parenting.
