Jason Sudeikis Channels Ted Lasso Spirit at Game as NSYNC Music Plays

As a big New York Liberty fan, Ted Lasso actor Jason Sudeikis can be spotted often attending the team’s games in person. On Tuesday night, Sudeikis was again in attendance to watch the Liberty go up against the visiting Dallas Wings at Barclays Center in Brooklyn.

When Sudeikis was introduced to the crowd during a break in the first quarter, the arena’s DJ dug deep and played one of NSYNC’s biggest hits, “Bye Bye Bye.” Sudeikis then realized what was playing in the background and immediately danced to the song as the crowd cheered.

It was probably not just a random song selection. Sudeikis has a history with the song, albeit in the fiction realm. Long before Deadpool & Wolverine made Bye, Bye, Bye popular again, Ted Lasso lectured the younger generation about the infectious beats of that NSYNC hit from the early 2000s during a Season 2 episode of the show.

As for the Liberty-Wings game, New York crushed Dallas, 94-74. The Liberty played without star guard Sabrina Ionescu, who was sidelined by a neck issue but managed to get a win thanks to the huge performances of Breanna Stewart, Jonquel Jones and Courtney Vandersloot.

Stewart had 26 points and 12 rebounds, while Jones produced 23 points and 12 boards. Vandersloot, meanwhile, had a double-double herself, too, finishing with 15 points and 11 assists for the Liberty, who improved to 24-4.
