Jax Taylor to Exit Treatment Center Soon, Prioritizes Time with Son Cruz

Jax Taylor is preparing to return home after seeking help at a mental health facility last month. The 45-year-old Vanderpump Rules star is expected to be discharged from the inpatient facility later this week, sources close to him disclosed on Monday. His plan is to leave the facility on Thursday, August 22, and head back to his home in Los Angeles.

Taylor is eagerly anticipating quality time with his three-year-old son, Cruz, who he shares with his estranged wife, Brittany Cartwright. Brittany recently ignited romance rumors with a former Bachelorette contestant. Although Jax is looking forward to spending time with his son, there are no signs of a reconciliation between him and Brittany. Jax will move back into the family home, while Brittany will continue living nearby in a rental property.

Aside from bonding with Cruz, Jax is excited about returning to his normal routine after the upheaval caused by his treatment. Part of getting back to his usual lifestyle involves going back to work, but sources say it’s not his top priority. Jax has missed much of the filming of the second season of The Valley, a Vanderpump Rules spinoff series starring him, Brittany, and Kristen Doute, among others. Although the rest of the cast continued filming without him, he will rejoin them once out of the facility. However, he won’t hurry back to the cameras until he is settled in his personal life.

Sources added that Jax plans to disclose the reasons for needing inpatient treatment, but he will do so at his own pace. Viewers can expect a particularly poignant episode when he decides to open up about his personal struggles. Earlier this month, Jax confirmed his stay at the mental health facility with a heartfelt Instagram post dedicated to his son Cruz. He shared a tender photo of himself holding Cruz and planting a kiss on his cheek, stating, “Working on getting better for you buddy, I love you ❤️.”

On Tuesday, a representative for Jax shared that he was seeking inpatient treatment for his mental health struggles. The representative mentioned that Jax has always been upfront about his mental health issues, particularly over the past few months on his podcast. He made the decision to undergo inpatient treatment during a particularly sensitive time for him and his family. They requested privacy and respect until Jax feels ready to speak more on the matter.

The decision to seek help came after a concerning visit from the police to the home Jax and Brittany shared. Following their separation in February, tensions between them were high, causing Jax to live alone. He was reportedly seen talking to the police before heading to the gym.

Earlier this month, it was revealed that their $1.9 million Los Angeles home was slapped with a lien by the California Franchise Tax Board amounting to $35,239.88. Brittany previously mentioned that she was handling the bills while Jax was responsible for the mortgage payments.

Last month, Jax discussed some of the strategies he and Brittany were working on to save their marriage, including therapy, on their podcast When Reality Hits. Their relationship dates back to 2015 but faced challenges in 2017 when Jax admitted to an affair. They reconciled, got engaged in 2018, and married in Kentucky in 2019. The couple welcomed Cruz in 2021.

Following their firing from Vanderpump Rules in 2020, they began documenting their marital struggles in the spinoff series The Valley, which also stars Kristen Doute.
