Jennifer Lopez has returned to social media following news of her divorce from Ben Affleck, and she’s basking in the love from her fans.
The singer had remained silent on social media since the news broke that she had filed for divorce. However, on Friday, August 23, she made a comeback by reposting a picture shared by a fan account. The image showed Lopez in a fluffy pink pajama set, taking a selfie in front of a Christmas tree.
There was no mention of Ben or the divorce in her post, signaling that Jennifer may be choosing to focus on herself and her fans.
After months of rumors, Jennifer filed for divorce on Tuesday, August 20, in LA County Superior Court without an attorney present. She cited “irreconcilable differences” as the reason for their split. The documents also stated that Jennifer requested that neither she nor Ben be awarded spousal support.
The papers revealed that their date of separation was April 26, 2024.
It is believed that neither Ben nor Jen signed a prenuptial agreement, which means their earnings from the past two years could be considered community property during the divorce proceedings.
The couple rekindled their romance in 2021 and tied the knot in a fairytale wedding in 2022. However, they have reportedly been living apart since May.
Over the past few months, there have been reports suggesting trouble between the two. Jennifer spent her birthday with friends in the Hamptons, while Ben celebrated his birthday on August 15 without her, as she attended a Bruno Mars concert in Los Angeles.
Jennifer and Ben, affectionately known as ‘Bennifer,’ first captured the public’s imagination in the early 2000s when they fell in love on the set of “Gigi.”
They became one of the most talked-about couples in Hollywood and were set to marry before their split in 2004.
Nearly two decades later, in 2021, they rekindled their romance, with Ben proposing. The pair married first in an elopement in Las Vegas before enjoying a larger celebration with friends and family, including Jennifer’s 16-year-old twins Max and Emme, and Ben’s three children, Violet, 18, Fin, 16, and 12-year-old Samuel, in Georgia.
However, they also spent their second wedding anniversary apart this summer. Further fueling speculation, the couple placed their $60 million mansion in Beverly Hills on the market.
Ben later purchased a $20 million home in Pacific Palisades, near his ex-wife Jennifer Garner and his children, without JLo.
