Joey Lawrence Addresses Divorce Filing, Denies On-Set Affair

Joey Lawrence is addressing rumors about his alleged affair with Melina Alves and clarifying that they never had a romantic relationship on the set of their Hallmark movie.

Lawrence shared a statement on Instagram, explaining to fans that he and Alves, despite speculations, did not engage in any physical relationship while working on “Socked In For Christmas.” He acknowledged that they did share a bond but emphasized that it was solely based on shared experiences and mutual understanding, not physical intimacy.

In his post, Lawrence delved deeper into the issues in his marriage with Samantha Cope. He mentioned that their two-year marriage was plagued with problems from the beginning and that it was beyond saving despite his best intentions.

One major issue, according to Joey, was Samantha’s difficulty in accepting his two children from a previous marriage. This, he believes, was a significant factor in the breakdown of their relationship.

Joey’s clarification follows a statement by Melina Alves. She took to Instagram to deny rumors of a hookup with Joey on set, asserting that their connection was a meaningful friendship that developed naturally.

Alves also mentioned that she and her ex-husband, Edward Rider, have been estranged since 2023. However, sources close to Rider dispute this claim. Alves has a temporary restraining order against Rider, which he believes will be dismissed after an upcoming hearing.

As for Joey and Samantha, they are moving forward with divorce proceedings. Cope is fighting for full custody of their daughter, Dylan.
