Take a backseat, because the real conflict between giant figures in contemporary cinema is the one between Dwayne Johnson and Vin Diesel on the set of the Fast & Furious franchise. The rivalry between these two alpha males has been a topic of discussion, with John Cena weighing in on the matter.
John Cena, a former professional wrestler like Johnson, shared his perspective on the clash between the two stars. Referring to them as “two very alpha people, very intense,” Cena drew parallels to his wrestling days where egos clash in a competitive environment.
Cena, who plays Jakob in Fast & Furious, compared the tension between Johnson and Diesel to being in a locker room surrounded by veterans from different generations. He emphasized the importance of respecting the longstanding franchise and the environment it creates.
Although Cena did not pick sides between Johnson and Diesel, he acknowledged the complexity of the situation and urged respect for the franchise that has spanned nine installments. The public feud between Johnson and Diesel first came to light in 2016, and ‘The Rock’ has since distanced himself from the main Fast & Furious series, starring in the spin-off Hobbs & Shaw alongside Jason Statham in 2019.
