José Andrés pays tribute to World Central Kitchen workers who lost their lives in Gaza

Under low gray clouds on a chilly spring morning, mourners gathered at Washington National Cathedral to remember the seven World Central Kitchen aid workers killed in Israeli airstrikes in Gaza. Chef José Andrés, founder of the anti-hunger organization, spoke about each victim and their commitment to helping others. The interfaith service featured music, prayers, and readings from different traditions. Andrés expressed dissatisfaction with the attack’s official explanation but vowed to continue the organization’s mission. The high-profile attendees included diplomats and politicians. The deaths drew international outrage, leading to a pause in WCK’s operations in Gaza. Andres founded WCK in 2010, and it has become a prominent humanitarian force.
