Katie Hobbs, the Governor of Arizona, signs repeal of 1864 ban on almost all abortions

Democratic Governor Katie Hobbs of Arizona signed a bill to repeal a Civil War-era ban on most abortions, calling it the beginning of a fight to protect reproductive health care. The law had been blocked since the 1973 Roe v. Wade decision. Planned Parenthood Arizona filed a motion to prevent a pause in abortion services until the repeal takes effect, while advocates collect signatures for a ballot measure allowing abortions until around 24 weeks.
