Kehlani’s Ex Seeks Custody Over Alleged Cult Concerns

Content warning: alleged sexual violence and child abuse.

R&B singer Kehlani is facing a custody battle after her daughter’s father, Javaughn Young-White, filed for full custody of their five-year-old child, Adeya.

According to Page Six, Young-White is seeking full custody after claiming that Kehlani is involved in a cult. He alleges that Adeya may have been abused in this cult and that in 2023, he was “physically restrained” upon discovering the situation.

Young-White, who was in a relationship with Kehlani from 2018 to 2019, asserts that the cult leader, a man named Neto, has “numerous accusations of committing sexual assault against women and young girls.”

Moreover, Young-White claims that Neto performs “religious ceremonies” on their daughter, where nobody else is allowed to be present in the room.

“When I discovered this on her birthday in 2023, I was physically restrained and threatened by members of the ‘cult’ when I attempted to retrieve our daughter,” he stated in the court documents.

He further alleged that Kehlani permits a cult member, referred to as ‘Messiah,’ an adult woman, to take baths with Adeya while under the influence of psychedelic drugs.

Young-White also claims that Kehlani leaves their daughter in the care of other “cult members” while on tour. According to him, Adeya sleeps in the bed with these members, is given baths by them, and is often alone in the bedroom with them.

He remarked that Kehlani has been part of the cult for several years and that it “controls [Kehlani’s] actions and her behavior, including regarding the upbringing of our daughter.”

Young-White explained, “For example, the cult leader convinced [Kehlani] that he had a vision that I was a danger to our daughter and would kill her, leading her to prevent me from seeing Adeya.”

“Based on this ‘vision’ by her cult leader, [Kehlani] prevented me from seeing our daughter for months,” he added.

He also noted that he is not listed on his daughter’s birth certificate due to “a home birth orchestrated by … [the] cult.”

“For the past five years, I have requested a copy of Adeya’s birth certificate and for my name to be added to it, but to no avail,” he stated.

Additionally, he suspects that their daughter lacks a social security number because Kehlani has allegedly refused to provide it to him.

As of the time of publishing, Kehlani has yet to respond to the allegations.
