Kelly Ripa Speaks Out on ‘The Bachelor’ Franchise

Kelly Ripa is typically older than the stars from Bachelor Nation who appear on her morning talk show. One rare exception was when she interacted with Gerry Turner and Theresa Nist. Unlike some past episodes, she wasn’t overly critical with them. However, she has a reputation for being tough on other Bachelor Nation personalities.

Long before Jenn Tran appeared on the Bachelorette, Hannah Brown experienced Ripa’s sharp criticisms about the dating show back in 2019. Brown learned that Ripa had made some rather harsh remarks about Bachelor Nation, prompting Chris Harrison to warn his cast that she could be tough on them. Hannah was slated to appear on the show soon after this.

Jenn Tran recently felt the heat from Kelly Ripa, which didn’t sit well with Bachelor Nation fans. Tran, who is young, attractive, smart, and searching for love, merely asked Ripa where she had met her husband, Mark Consuelos. Ripa snapped back, saying, “it’s not the same. We were both professional. I didn’t marry [Mark’s character] Mateo Santos. I married Mark Consuelos.”

The tension didn’t go unnoticed, with fans criticizing Ripa’s response. Tran is studying to be a physician’s assistant and garnering attention on social media, but Ripa’s reaction left a sour taste.

Kelly Ripa has a history of being critical of Bachelor Nation stars. US Weekly detailed past instances when other contestants faced her tough questions and sharp comments. For example, during an interview with Andi Dorfman from Season 10 of the Bachelorette, Ripa questioned her decision to participate in the show, asking why someone as “perfectly normal” as Dorfman would put herself through such an experience.

Moreover, other contestants weren’t spared. When Nick Viall was on, Ripa remarked, “one girl is 25 years old and still has a nanny… You need to run away! You need to run, OK?” Ripa’s sarcastic remarks continued with Arie Luyendyk Jr. During his appearance, she confronted him about his decision to dump Becca Kufrin, asking, “What’s wrong with you? What are you thinking, how did this happen, were you as shady as I think you are now?”

Bachelor Nation fans have mixed feelings about Kelly Ripa’s stance. Some believe she genuinely wants to challenge the contestants’ motives, while others think she’s merely trying to entertain her audience with provocative comments.
