Kyra Sedgwick and Kevin Bacon, married since 1988 and parents of two adult children, recently shared their insights on their professional careers and what they believe is the key to success over the years. They discussed this during an appearance on the television program TODAY with Hoda Kotb and Jenna Bush Hager.
The acting duo emphasized the importance of staying grounded despite their achievements in the entertainment industry. Sedgwick, who was promoting her upcoming play called All of Me, talked about how they have navigated balancing their work and personal lives after 35 years of marriage.
“I grew up in New York, he grew up in Philadelphia, we raised our kids in New York. It’s more about what we do and not who we are, right?” reflected Kyra. “We have always had the same priorities, which is to keep our feet on the ground,” shared Sedgwick.
The love story between Sedgwick and Bacon began on the set of the film Lemon Sky in 1987, a couple of years after the success of Footloose. They got married a year later and have two children, Travis, 34, and Sosie, 32.
Throughout their more than three-decade relationship, both have enjoyed successful careers in film and television, facing the challenges of staying relevant in a competitive industry. Sedgwick highlighted the importance of persistence and hard work in maintaining success in their profession.
In his most recent work, Bacon appeared in the 2023 Netflix film Leave the World Behind, while Sedgwick had a recurring role in the second season of the Prime Video series The Summer I Turned Pretty.
During a conversation with Kotb and Bush Hager, Sedgwick also mentioned their viral TikTok video from March, where they jokingly compared their outfits after more than three decades of marriage.
Sedgwick and Bacon celebrated their 35th wedding anniversary in September, and they have announced their collaboration in the upcoming film Connescence, marking their first joint production since 2004, where they will explore a dynamic relationship in a dramatic context.
In the film, Bacon plays a security guard named Stan Olszewski, who gets involved in a robbery at the home of Cynthia Rand (played by Sedgwick), a successful urologist married to former Watergate prosecutor Warren Rand (played by Judd Hirsch).
