Key Learnings from Utah’s 2024 Republican State Convention

The Utah Republican Party endorsed numerous candidates on Saturday at the convention, with the requirement of 60% delegate votes to secure the party nomination. Governor Cox lost the nomination to challenger Phil Lyman, while U.S. Senator Mitt Romney’s seat had a four-candidate race, with Trent Staggs winning. U.S. House seats also had primary challengers, with incumbent Blake Moore facing Paul Miller and U.S. Rep. Celeste Maloy competing against Colby Jenkins. And in the state auditor race, both Republican candidates Ricky Hatch and Tina Cannon advanced to the primary. Overall, it was a busy and eventful convention to determine 2024 candidates.
