Lainey Wilson Returns as Hannah Montana and Meets Miley Cyrus!

Lainey Wilson experienced a full-circle moment during the 2024 Disney Legends Ceremony on Sunday night, August 11.

Miley Cyrus made history by being named the youngest Disney Legend. To honor her, Lainey Wilson took the stage to perform Cyrus’ hit song “Best of Both Worlds,” famously featured on Miley’s show Hannah Montana.

“Miley, you might not know this, but I am truly one of your biggest fans,” the “Hang Tight Honey” singer shared from the stage. “My very first job was taking my portable sound system and a wig…and impersonating Hannah Montana.”

Yes, it’s true! Before becoming the famous superstar she is today, Lainey Wilson was hustling as a Hannah Montana impersonator.

“I was making bank in high school,” Wilson said in a 2021 interview with Taste of Country. “I was doing three to four parties a weekend.”

As she concluded her speech, Wilson thanked Cyrus for playing an important role in her self-identity and confidence.

“You inspired me to believe in myself,” she noted. “That I, too, could be an ordinary girl living in an extraordinary world. So on behalf of Hannah Montana fans everywhere, I’d like to dedicate this song to you.”

Later, Wilson posted a photo of the pair on social media, making it a surreal moment for her.

“From performing as Hannah Montana on flatbed trailers at birthday parties to honoring the legend herself … now that right there is what ya call a full circle moment,” she wrote on Instagram. “Miley Cyrus, you’re such an inspiration.”

Currently, Lainey Wilson is on the road for her Country’s Cool Again Tour.
