Late season storm brings snow, forcing closure of I-80 in the Sierra

Interstate 80 and Highway 50 are closed in the Sierra due to a cold spring storm in Northern California. Eastbound traffic on I-80 is being turned around at Colfax, while westbound traffic is being turned around at the Nevada state line. There have been spinouts and collisions over Donner Summit. Highway 50 is also affected, with eastbound traffic at Sand Flat and westbound traffic at Meyers being held. Snow levels dropped to about 4,000 feet, impacting drivers. Thunderstorms in the valley could bring heavy downpours, lightning, hail, and gusty winds. The storm is expected to continue through the night.
