Latest U.S. Tourist Arrested in Turks and Caicos after Ammunition Allegedly Found in Luggage Identified as Virginia EMT

A 30-year-old U.S. man, Tyler Wenrich, was arrested in Turks and Caicos after officials found two bullets in his backpack. Possessing a gun or ammunition is prohibited in the British territory, and tourists are now subject to prison time rather than just paying a fine. Wenrich faces a potential 12-year prison sentence, similar to other American tourists facing lengthy prison terms for similar charges. Ryan Watson, a 40-year-old father from Oklahoma, was released on bond after airport security found ammo in his carry-on bag. The TSA acknowledged missing the ammo during the security screening. The Turks and Caicos government enforces its legislation, urging visitors to follow law enforcement procedures. The State Department issued a warning to American tourists to check their luggage for ammunition or weapons when traveling to Turks and Caicos.
