Legacy Spinoff Adds Vets from Castle, Magnum P.I., All Rise, and Teen Wolf

Detective Renee Ballard has assembled a new cold case-cracking team.

Prime Video’s upcoming Maggie Q-led Bosch: Legacy spinoff has added four new series regulars, including Castle alum Michael Mosley and Magnum P.I. vet Amy Hill.

Ordered to series last November, the new addition to the Bosch universe follows Detective Ballard as she runs the LAPD’s new cold case division. This unit, which is poorly funded and consists entirely of volunteers, handles the largest case load in the city.

Ballard approaches these dormant cases with both empathy and determination. During her investigations, she uncovers a larger conspiracy. To navigate the dangers that threaten her unit and her life, she relies on help from her retired ally, Harry Bosch.

Previously cast members include John Carroll Lynch from Big Sky and American Horror Story, who plays Thomas Laffont, Renee’s former partner who comes out of retirement to help run the Cold Case Department. Also cast is Courtney Taylor from Abbott Elementary and Insecure as Samira Parker, a cautious ex-cop who returns to the force at Ballard’s request.

New to the lineup, as reported by Deadline, are Michael Mosley as Ted, a reserve officer assigned to the cold case team to monitor Ballard, and Amy Hill as Tutu, Ballard’s spirited grandmother.

Other new series regulars include Rebecca Field from All Rise, who portrays Colleen, an enthusiastic and eccentric volunteer, and Victoria Moroles from Teen Wolf, who plays Martina, a savvy legal intern.

Maggie Q will debut as Ballard, a character from Michael Connelly’s Harry Bosch novels, in the Season 3 finale of Prime Video’s Bosch: Legacy. The season, still awaiting a premiere date, will be based on Connelly’s novels Desert Star (2022) and The Black Ice (1993).
