LGBTQ Bans Lifted and Episcopal Communion Approved

During General Conference, delegates fast-tracked numerous items on the consent calendar, including a vote to enter into full communion with the Episcopal Church without debate. These changes, which pass silently, are eliminating LGBTQ bans and revising policies related to same-sex marriage and gay clergy. The Conference is also reducing requested giving and making revisions to the Book of Discipline. Additionally, there were acknowledgments, celebrations, and apologies at the Conference, including a Service of Lament for abuse victims and the election of Bishop Tracy S. Malone as the first Black woman to lead the Council of Bishops.
