Lil Wayne Weighs In on Drake-Kendrick Lamar Feud, Kind Of

Lil Wayne has taken a stance in the long-running Drake-Kendrick Lamar feud, albeit in a subtle manner. During a recent performance, the rapper delivered his verse on Drake’s 2011 song “The Motto.” As the song reached his part, Wayne tweaked some of the lyrics, seemingly drawing inspiration from Kendrick Lamar’s track “Not Like Us.”

Wayne highlighted his OVO chain while rapping the chorus of Lamar’s pointed diss towards Drake and OVO. This action left fans puzzled, trying to understand Wayne’s intentions. Some fans even debated the exact lyrics – whether Wayne said “not like us” or “they don’t like us.”

The viral video’s commentary section was abuzz with speculation about the consequences if Wayne took a direct shot at Kendrick Lamar. One fan commented, “One lighter flick and it would be over for Kendrick lol.” Another wrote, “Lil Wayne can rap, but I don’t think he’s on Kendrick’s level. If Kendrick steps back in, it’s over for these rappers…including Wayne and Drake.” Another user refuted the controversy, stating, “Media blogs pushing a false narrative… Wayne clearly saying ‘They don’t like us.’” Another account humorously added, “Drake fans just praying Wayne would help Aubrey.”

Uncertainty surrounds Wayne’s intentions, but it’s hard to imagine he doesn’t have an opinion on a song where he’s mentioned. Kendrick’s “Not Like Us” names Weezy while painting Drake as untrustworthy and opportunistic. In the track, Kendrick raps about how Drake allegedly took advantage of Wayne’s imprisonment, having a relationship with Wayne’s then-girlfriend, Tammy Torres. The lyrics sharply criticize Drake’s actions during that period.

This particular incident, referenced by Kendrick, dates back to 2010. While Wayne was in prison, Drake reportedly had an affair with Tammy Torres. Wayne later addressed these rumors in his tracks “6 Foot 7 Foot” and “How to Hate.” In these songs, he alluded to feeling betrayed by both Tammy and Drake.

Wayne elaborated on this incident in his 2016 prison diary, “Gone’ Til November: A Journal of Rikers Island.” He expressed his distress over finding out about Tammy and Drake’s relationship, referring to that day as one of the worst moments he could have experienced.

Fans were encouraged to watch the video to form their own opinions about the incident and Wayne’s performance.
