Live Blog: Quarterfinals Kick Off with First Night of Live Shows – GoldDerby

“America’s Got Talent” kicked off the final phase of season 19 on Tuesday with the first live show of the summer. This quarter-finals round will span four episodes, featuring 11 acts per night. The judges Simon Cowell, Heidi Klum, Howie Mandel, and Sofia Vergara still have the power to buzz acts, but the home audience will determine the ultimate favorites through their votes.

During the August 13 quarterfinal, a diverse array of performers took to the stage. Among them was Heidi’s first Golden Buzzer, singer Richard Goodall. Competing alongside him were contortionist Arshiya, band Ashes & Arrows, dance groups Attraction Juniors, Hypers Kids Africa, and Los Osos High School, rap duo Flewnt & Inkabee, acrobats Hakuna Matata Acrobatic, singer Liv Warfield, baton twirler Phillip Lewis, and dog act Roni Sagi & Rhythm.

The show began at 8:03 p.m. with host Terry clarifying that three of the 11 acts would advance to The Finals. Two of these will be voted in by the public, while a live show Golden Buzzer act would be chosen by one of the judges – tonight, Sofia had the golden decision.

The first act was the 12-year-old rapper and his dad Flewnt & Inkabee, aiming to give the Aboriginal people a voice through their performance. Howie found them “so energetic,” Heidi was impressed by their “coolness” and confidence, Sofia cherished their father-son relationship, while Simon praised them for coming on the show as a duo but hinted they might need to separate down the road.

Next on stage was the Hungarian shadow theater group Attraction Juniors, an offshoot of the former “BGT” winner Attraction. Heidi felt they had improved from their audition, Sofia described their act as “light and fun,” Simon was impressed with their performance, but Howie remained unconvinced of their progress.

Later, Simon’s Golden Buzzer singer Liv Warfield performed a special song written for her by Prince. Simon called it “unbelievable,” noting the hard work reflected in her performance. Sofia labeled it “perfection,” Howie deemed it a “drop the mic moment,” and Heidi “loved every second of it.”

As the show progressed, viewers could see that the competition was fierce and the talent pool diverse, with each act striving to leave an indelible mark.

The suspense of who will move forward adds an extra layer of excitement to the season, ensuring that viewers will be eagerly tuning in for the results. With the fate of the contestants resting in the hands of the voting public, every performance counts more than ever.
