Major Airlines that Fly to the Island

Summer is approaching and some Cubans living abroad are planning to visit their families on the island. The web Cuba Travel and the Minister of Tourism, Juan Carlos García Granda confirmed that there will be an increase in flights to Cuba, on several airlines.

The company Cuban Aviation maintains operations to Buenos Aires on a weekly basis. In addition, a flight will operate every Sunday, on the Havana – Caracas route. For its part, the Venezuelan airline Conviasa is maintained with a biweekly frequency on the Caracas-Havana-Moscow route. Trips from Mexico City to Havana will be daily, with the company Aeromexico. LATAM Airlines will have five frequencies to Havana from Lima, with departures scheduled for Tuesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Air operations between Nassau and Havana will have two weekly frequencies, Tuesdays and Fridays, and will be in charge of Bahamas Water. Avianca restarts its flights to Havana as of July 2, on the Bogotá-Havana-Bogotá route with a daily frequency.

The airline Cuban Aviation maintains a weekly frequency to Madrid. While Air Europa continues with daily flights to Havana; and Iberia has three weekly frequencies in the summer of 2024. Iberojet begins operations to Varadero on June 1 until October 5 and has a new route that goes from Madrid to Santa Clara from July 17 to September 4, with a weekly flight on Wednesdays. Besides, Iberojet / Avoris will travel from Lisbon to Santa Clara, from June 25 to September 10, a weekly flight, on Tuesdays. TUI Netherlands will have a weekly frequency to Varadero shared with Cancún; like TUI Belgium; while TUI UK in the month of April it will operate with two weekly frequencies, Wednesdays and Sundays. Edelweiss an airline originally from Switzerland, will operate a weekly frequency to Havana until May 9. The Russian airline Russia Airlines maintains its three weekly frequencies to Havana and Varadero. The Italian Neos will fly from September 9 to October 21 from Rome, originating in Milan and not shared with Cancun. The German company Condor will fly to Cuba from May 1 to September 25, through the Holguín airport and the flights are shared with Montego Bay. The airline World2fly from Madrid added its fourth frequency to Havana, starting on April 2 and will maintain those flights until October 22. It will add a fifth frequency from June 20 to September 12. This same airline will fly to Cuba from Lisbon. It will begin operations to Varadero from June 1 to October 26, with trips on Saturdays. World2fly travels to Cuba from Bratislava/Prague to Santa Clara airport. They maintain the company’s charter operations with Fischer Reisen until April 30, on Tuesdays. In addition, they will have flights from Lisbon to Cayo Coco, a new air operation with New Blue, which will be from June 4 to September 24, on Tuesdays. The airline Air France reduces its flights to Havana as of April 1. It will maintain three weekly frequencies to the Cuban capital from Paris. They will be on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Saturdays. Operations from Istanbul to Havana will have four weekly frequencies, on Mondays, Tuesdays, Fridays, and Sundays. They will be in charge of Turkish Airlines. Nordwind / Pegas Tourism plans to operate four weekly frequencies to Varadero, scheduled on Mondays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays and operations to Cayo Coco of two to three weekly frequencies.

Last week it was reported that there will also be flights to Havana from Asia this summer. The state airline of the People’s Republic of China, Air China will begin operating a route to the Cuban capital starting in May. The Cuban government warns that this is a “general vision” of how flights to Cuba will work in summer 2024. Travelers should book flights in advance to avoid untimely changes to plans. The ideal is to always communicate directly with the airlines to confirm reservations in time.
