A man accused of randomly assaulting women in New York City was arrested by police. Daquan Armstead, 31, from East Bronx, was taken into custody for hate-motivated assaults on seven women in Lower Manhattan. He allegedly punched women in the face, head, or back. When questioned, Armstead claimed the victims had spit on him, but police denied this. He faces charges of hate crime/assault, attempted hate crime, and aggravated harassment. There have been 95 unprovoked assaults in Manhattan this year, with 50 involving female victims. The attacks attributed to Armstead are separate from those reported on social media.
