Man at Woodbury Target shot by police after parking lot confrontation

A busy shopping center in Woodbury was the site of a police standoff where a man pointed a gun at officers, resulting in him being shot on Monday morning. The man, around 50 years old, was taken to Regions Hospital for treatment. Officers had responded to a stolen license plate vehicle in the Target parking lot and found the man with a handgun. After negotiations failed, he pointed the gun at officers, leading to the shooting. The incident prompted a lockdown of the store, causing shoppers to shelter in place. Witnesses described the event as “too close for comfort.”
