Man from Florida accused of killing girlfriend’s teenage daughter

The longtime boyfriend of a central Florida mother has been charged with the murder of her 13-year-old daughter, Madeline Soto, who was reported missing in February. Stephan Sterns faces first-degree murder charges for Madeline’s killing, with prosecutors undecided on seeking the death penalty. Madeline was reported missing after her mother, Jennifer Soto, couldn’t find her at school, and her body was later discovered in a wooded area. While Sterns is in jail without bond, no defense attorney is listed for him. Sterns also faces charges of sexual battery and possession of child sex abuse material related to Madeline.
