Man in handcuffs tells Ohio officers ‘I can’t breathe’ in bodycam footage before his death

The Canton Police Department in Ohio released body camera footage of a 53-year-old man, Frank Tyson, who died after repeatedly telling officers he couldn’t breathe while being handcuffed and pinned to the ground. In the video, officers responded to a single-car crash and found Tyson at an AMVETS lodge. Officers attempted to handcuff Tyson, who resisted, leading to him being restrained with an officer’s knee on his upper body. Tyson said he couldn’t breathe multiple times. Despite receiving CPR and Narcan, Tyson died later at the hospital. The Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation is conducting an independent investigation. Officers involved are on administrative leave.
