Man killed in Seward neighborhood shooting identified as firefighter

A man who was killed in an overnight shooting in the Seward neighborhood of Minneapolis was identified as metro area firefighter Joseph C. Johns. Police responded to a report of two people shot in a parking lot, where they found Johns in his 40s who later died at Hennepin Healthcare. Another injured man arrived at the hospital in a passenger vehicle with non-life-threatening injuries. The shooting occurred across 9th Street, with shots exchanged between a group of people. Johns had served as a duty-crew firefighter in Eden Prairie and a career firefighter in Eagan. No one has been arrested in connection with the shooting.
