Man previously convicted of violent assault suspected in break-in at Mayor Bass’ residence

The man accused of breaking into Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass’ home had previously been charged with kidnapping and attempted murder in Massachusetts. Ephraim Hunter, 29, smashed through a window at the Getty House while Bass and her relatives were home, but no one was harmed and nothing was stolen. Investigators believe Hunter targeted the mayor’s residence and are looking into evidence of additional crimes. Hunter had a prior conviction for assault with a deadly weapon in Massachusetts. Bass released a statement thanking the LAPD for their quick response and security measures have been increased around Getty House.
