Man wanted for kidnapping instigates two standoffs resulting in the closure of two freeways in South LA

Officers in South Los Angeles ended a nearly two-hour standoff with a kidnapping suspect on the freeway. The pursuit began when Long Beach Police chased the suspect on the southbound 710 Freeway. The suspect, believed to be alone, stopped on the freeway, where the van’s tire shredded. After a failed attempt to escape, officers used a PIT maneuver to stop the suspect. Following a standoff, officers pulled the suspect out of the van and arrested him. The incident caused closures on both the 710 and CA-91 freeways.
