Mariah Carey’s Sister’s Dying Wish Before Her Passing

Mariah Carey recently endured the heartbreaking loss of two family members, her mother Patricia and her sister Alison, on the same day last week. Alison, who had reportedly been estranged from the superstar singer, wished to see Mariah one last time before her passing but unfortunately did not get the chance.

In her tribute, Mariah mentioned she had spent the previous week with her mother Patricia and requested privacy as she copes with this immense loss. Delving further into her statement, it is evident that Mariah’s sentiment towards her mother is profound, describing her death as heart-wrenching. Her mention of Alison, however, was considerably more reserved.

Mariah has been candid about the tumultuous relationship she had with Alison, referring to her as her “ex-sister” in her 2020 memoir, The Meaning of Mariah Carey. In the same memoir, she also mentioned their sibling Morgan as her “ex-brother.” Her therapist had advised her to “rename and reframe” her family dynamics and suggested she cut ties with both Alison and Morgan for her own mental well-being.

Mariah, age 55, alleged that Alison had harmful behaviors, including drug addiction and introducing Mariah to substances like Valium and cocaine. Mariah also recounted traumatic incidents, claiming that Alison inflicted third-degree burns on her and even attempted to sell her to a pimp. Alison denied these allegations categorically and, following the book’s release, sued Mariah for $1.25 million in the New York County Supreme Court.

Despite facing criticism for not being there for Alison in her final moments, Mariah remains steadfast in her choice to keep her distance, arguing it was necessary for her safety and well-being. Alison’s friend and healthcare proxy, David Baker, expressed his frustration at Mariah’s apparent neglect of her sister. He believes Alison deserved to have her dying wish fulfilled, especially considering she had looked after Mariah during their childhood.

In addition to the allegations involving drugs, Alison was accused of misusing funds provided by Mariah for rehabilitation. She also squandered a $1 million inheritance left to her by their father, who had worked diligently to provide for her. Morgan, similarly, was entangled in allegations of drug dealing and once allegedly assaulted Patricia. Morgan denied these claims and filed a defamation lawsuit against Mariah.
