Massachusetts Police Officer Killed in Accident Involving Excavator at Road Construction Site

A Massachusetts police officer, Sgt. Ian Taylor, died Friday afternoon after being hit by an excavator while working at a road construction site. The incident occurred on Boston Road at about 1:15 p.m. Taylor, a 21-year law enforcement veteran, was actively involved in moving a tractor-trailer around the construction site when the excavator struck him. Colleagues described Taylor as an incredible officer who loved helping the community. Despite efforts to call a medical helicopter, Taylor was transported to Lahey Hospital in Burlington. Witnesses reported hearing calls for help and saw construction workers rushing to assist Taylor.
