Matt Lauer’s Daughter Romy Involved in Holiday Hit-and-Run Incident

Matt Lauer’s daughter Romy has been implicated in a hit-and-run car crash that occurred over the Fourth of July weekend.

Page Six reports that the 20-year-old has been issued a summons for leaving the scene of an accident. Her involvement was discovered after she left her license plate behind. She has also reportedly been ticketed, though details on the citation or fine are unclear.

According to sources, Romy crashed her Jeep Wrangler into a fence and sign in the Hamptons. Her license plate fell off the car as a result, with Southampton Town police later discovering it at the scene.

A nearby resident called 911 at approximately 4 a.m. on July 5 after hearing the crash, expressing concern that someone may have been hurt. When police arrived, they found a fence and sign knocked over, along with the plate.

It doesn’t appear as though there were any other vehicles involved in the incident, and police sources did not expand upon the accident investigation.

Edward Burke Jr., described as a “local powerhouse attorney,” is currently involved in the case and working to resolve it for Ms. Lauer. He previously represented Justin Timberlake during his Hamptons DUI case and is said to have a roster full of other famous clients, including Romy’s father.

The former Today co-anchor shares Romy with his ex-wife, Annette Roque. The two are also parents to Jack, 23, and Thijs, 17.
