Mayor backs the Boston police following arrests at the Emerson encampment

Boston Mayor Michelle Wu responded to the arrest of over 100 people and injury of four police officers during a clash between protesters and Boston police at a pro-Palestinian encampment. The protests were in solidarity with those at Columbia University in New York. Wu reviewed body cam footage and supported the police’s actions. She stated the importance of ensuring everyone’s safety and expressed support for peaceful expression of views. The mayor mentioned the possibility of infiltrators causing issues at the Emerson protests. Counseling was made available for the Emerson community, and classes are set to resume.
