McGovern asserts Democrats will not be easily swayed into helping Speaker Johnson retain her position

Rep. Jim McGovern emphasized that House Democrats will not support Speaker Mike Johnson without receiving something in return to prevent his removal proposed by Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene. Greene threatened to oust Johnson, citing his handling of Ukraine aid, which was eventually included in a foreign aid package. While Greene’s resolution has some GOP support, other conservatives are hesitant due to disagreements with Johnson’s bipartisan approach. House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries confirmed that the White House is not involved in advising Democrats on how to proceed if Johnson is removed.
