Melissa McBride Filmography: Movies and Shows Featuring Walking Dead’s Carol

Actress Melissa McBride began her acting career in 1991, making a mark with commercials for well-known clients like Rooms to Go and Ford. A significant turning point came in 2007 when Frank Darabont, then showrunner of “The Walking Dead,” cast her in the sci-fi horror film “The Mist” as a concerned mother.

By 2010, McBride took on the iconic role of Carol Peletier in AMC’s “The Walking Dead,” a part that would solidify her status in the television world. Fans will be delighted to know that McBride is set to return to this universe in the spinoff “The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon – The Book of Carol,” which is the second season of a series that has already been renewed for seasons three and four.

Her first foray into television was with the ABC legal drama “Matlock,” where she worked alongside Andy Griffith. This led to various guest roles in series such as “In the Heat of the Night,” “American Gothic,” “Profiler,” and “Walker, Texas Ranger.” During the first season of “Dawson’s Creek,” McBride played a film enthusiast who wins over Dawson following his breakup with Jen. She reprised a different role in the show’s season six finale.

Before her work in “The Mist,” McBride appeared in several made-for-TV movies like “Her Deadly Rival” (1995), “Close to Danger” (1997), “Any Place But Home” (1997), and “Pirates of Silicon Valley” (1999). Originally offered a larger role in “The Mist,” McBride opted for a smaller part to balance her career as a casting director, a position she held from 2007 to 2010. The film also featured other “Walking Dead” actors like Laurie Holden, Jeffrey DeMunn, Juan Gabriel Pareja, and Sam Witwer.

Throughout her tenure on “The Walking Dead,” McBride’s portrayal of Carol Peletier became a series staple. She also made a guest appearance in a season four episode of “Fear the Walking Dead” and featured in the third episode of Norman Reedus’ travel series “Ride with Norman Reedus,” where the two explored Ireland by motorcycle.

Fans are eager to see McBride reprise her role as Carol in the “Daryl Dixon” spinoff, debuting on AMC and AMC+ on September 29, 2024. With the series already renewed, viewers are hopeful to see more of her in the upcoming seasons.
