A man from Miami was taken into custody after a fatal altercation with his roommate over a dollar last Friday, as reported by the authorities.
Brandon Carlos Grant, a 36-year-old individual, was charged with second-degree murder following the death of his partner in their shared apartment located in a building on Northwest 77th Street in Miami.
The incident took place around 5 a.m. on Friday, prompting a response from law enforcement officials who had been alerted to a potential disagreement between the roommates.
Upon arrival at the scene, officers discovered the suspect outside the building, lying on the sidewalk, with blood on his hoodie, as indicated by local media outlets.
Grant mentioned he was having trouble breathing and requested water before being transported to a nearby hospital.
Upon entering the apartment, law enforcement discovered the victim unconscious on his knees, leaning against a couch, displaying signs of blunt force trauma to his face, as per the arrest report.
The victim, whose identity has not been disclosed, was pronounced dead by the City of Miami Fire Department personnel on site.
During a subsequent interview, Grant confessed to law enforcement that he “flew into a rage when the victim refused to give him a dollar,” leading to a physical altercation where the victim warned him to stop because he was going to kill him.
Grant was detained at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center and remained in custody without the option for bail as of Monday, according to the report from Local 10 News.
