Michael Sheen: ‘Good Omens’ Final Season Will Be a “Satisfying Experience”

The end is near, but Michael Sheen is ready to go out with a bang on the third and final season of Prime Video’s Good Omens.

The Golden Globe nominee, who portrays angel Aziraphale in the adaptation of Neil Gaiman and Terry Pratchett’s book, expressed his excitement about the upcoming season. David Tennant also stars in the series, playing demon Crowley.

“It’s still in development, but I’m obviously very excited to work with David again, and I love that character. I’m very excited about it,” Sheen told TV Insider.

Sheen also commented on the show’s dedicated fanbase. “One of the extraordinary things about being a part of Good Omens is the audience, the fans, the fandom of it,” he said. “You have to take it very seriously because people get really affected by it. Seeing how people reacted to the end of Season 2 was extraordinary. So yeah, I hope, and I’m sure, that Season 3 will be a satisfying experience for everyone.”

The Season 2 finale saw Aziraphale returning to Heaven as a supreme archangel while Crowley drove off in the Bentley. They parted with a kiss after Crowley suggested they run off together and be an “us.” Reflecting on the emotionally charged finale, Sheen said, “I know, I know.”

Meanwhile, Tennant has also hinted at a thrilling ending. Speaking at Florida Supercon 2024 last month, he said, “I know where it’s going, and I defy anyone not to think that it’s the perfect ending. I’m not giving very much away with that. I’m not saying whether that’s good, bad, or indifferent, but it’s definitely perfect.”

Amazon renewed the series for a third and final season in December, announcing that filming would begin “soon” in Scotland. Gaiman provided a teaser on what’s to come for Aziraphale and Crowley.

“I’m so happy finally to be able to finish the story Terry and I plotted in 1989 and in 2006,” Gaiman shared in a statement. “Terry was determined that if we made Good Omens for television, we could take the story all the way to the end. Season One was all about averting Armageddon, dangerous prophecies, and the End of the World. Season Two was sweet and gentle, although it may have ended less joyfully than a certain Angel and Demon might have hoped. Now, in Season Three, we will deal once more with the end of the world. The plans for Armageddon are going wrong. Only Crowley and Aziraphale working together can hope to put it right. And they aren’t talking.”
