Michigan building owner arrested at airport as he attempts to flee country, following explosion, authorities report

The owner of a suburban Detroit business that caught fire and exploded, resulting in the death of a man, was arrested at a New York airport as he attempted to board a one-way flight to Hong Kong. Noor Noel Kestou, 31, was apprehended by U.S. Customs and New York Port Authority personnel at John F. Kennedy International Airport. The incident occurred on March 4 at a facility in Clinton Township that housed a vape distributor called Goo, where a truckload of butane canisters had recently arrived. One person, Turner Lee Salter, was fatally struck by a cannister propelled by the explosion. Kestou has been charged with involuntary manslaughter and released on bond. A hearing is scheduled for May 7.
