Mitch McConnell clarifies that he is ‘not advocating’ for federal abortion ban

Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell stated that he is not pushing for a federal abortion ban, specifically a 15-week ban proposed by Sen. Lindsey Graham. McConnell believes the issue of abortion should be decided by individual states, not the federal government. He mentioned that although a federal ban on abortion is possible, he doesn’t think it would get through Congress. McConnell emphasized that views on abortion vary by state and that the Republican Party should address the issue based on the preferences of their constituents. Overall, he believes the abortion debate will play out at the state level, reflecting the views of each state.
