NAACP Demands Federal Probe into Death of Ohio Man in Handcuffs Who Pleaded ‘I can’t breathe’ to Police

The president of the NAACP is requesting a federal investigation into the death of Frank Tyson, a Black man who died after telling Canton Police officers “I can’t breathe” while being handcuffed prone in an Ohio bar. The NAACP compared Tyson’s death to that of George Floyd in 2020. The officers involved have been put on administrative leave, and the Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation is conducting an independent investigation. The NAACP criticized the officers’ actions, calling for accountability and justice, emphasizing the need for urgent action to prevent such tragedies in the future.
