New American Lung Association report ranks the worst U.S. cities for air pollution

The American Lung Association’s latest “State of the Air” report revealed that almost 39% of U.S. residents are exposed to unhealthy air pollution levels. The report analyzed data from 2020 to 2022, showing that 131 million Americans were affected, a 10% increase from the previous year. Pollution levels were particularly high in certain parts of the country, with wildfires and climate change exacerbating the issue. Cities like Bakersfield, California, and Los Angeles were among the worst for particle pollution and ozone levels. Despite efforts to improve air quality, many Americans still face the risk of respiratory and cardiovascular problems due to pollution.
