New Transformers One Clip Released at Kids Choice Awards

The 2024 Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Awards are in full swing, and young fans are already celebrating their favorite stars taking home the iconic orange blimps. Among the noteworthy appearances was the cast of “Transformers One,” including Chris Hemsworth, Keegan-Michael Key, and Brian Tyree Henry. They came together to unveil a clip from the first fully-animated Transformers movie in nearly four decades. This movie recently received a standing ovation at the Annecy Film Festival, and fans are eager to learn more at the upcoming San Diego Comic-Con panel.

“Hello, Kids’ Choice Awards,” began Hemsworth. “Greetings from the cast of ‘Transformers One,'” added Key. “Before we roll out our never-before-seen look at the movie,” Henry chimed in, “We want to give a special shoutout to the greatest yellow superhero of all time,” continued Hemsworth. Key and Henry anticipated Hemsworth would mention Bumblebee, but the Marvel star surprised everyone by naming Nickelodeon icon, Spongebob Squarepants. The introduction was followed by the much-anticipated clip from “Transformers One.”

Set on Cybertron, “Transformers One” delves into the untold origin story of a young Optimus Prime and Megatron. Before transforming into sworn enemies as leaders of the warring Autobots and Decepticons, they were brothers-in-arms Orion Pax (Hemsworth) and D-16 (Henry). Their actions changed the fate of their planet forever. On a mission in the depths of Cybertron, Orion and D-16 encounter workers B-127 (Key), also known as Bumblebee, and Ariel (Scarlett Johansson), later known as Elita-1. Together, they embark on a dangerous journey to the planet’s surface world.

The movie boasts a star-studded voice cast, including Jon Hamm (“Mad Men”) as Sentinel Prime, Steve Buscemi (“Transformers: The Last Knight”) in an undisclosed villain role, and Laurence Fishburne (“The Matrix”) as Alpha Trion. Alpha Trion is the sworn protector of Vector Sigma, the mega-computer at the heart of Cybertron, which unlocks the Transformers’ full potential and gives the ‘bots the ability to transform. “Transformers One” is produced by Paramount Animation (“The SpongeBob Movie: Sponge on the Run”), Hasbro Entertainment (“Transformers: EarthSpark”), and New Republic Pictures (“The Tiger’s Apprentice”).

“We did our take on the origin, which still stays true to the lore of ‘Transformers,'” director Josh Cooley shared. He noted that Optimus Prime’s origin story is “something we’ve never seen before on screen.” Cooley emphasized that, while the movie is not a direct prequel to any of the live-action films, it stands as its own unique story.

“Transformers One” is set to open exclusively in theaters on September 20th.
