Noel Gallagher Discusses Oasis Split in First Reunion Interview with Young Fan

Bands break up for various reasons: professional jealousy, money issues, relationship troubles, exhaustion, creative differences, and sometimes just pure frustration. But a split over stuffed animals is something quite unusual.

In a surprising turn, Noel Gallagher, in his first official interview promoting the Oasis reunion with his brother Liam, revealed that the legendary band broke up 15 years ago over a teddy bear. This revelation came when Oasis superfan Steve Sheward ran into Noel at the Stone Island Shop in London.

Sheward, who hoped for a relaxed pub chat with Noel, ended up with an even better experience. “Trumped that with my children making memories and just hope I can get tickets next year,” Sheward wrote on X. He also shared a series of photos with a cheerful Noel and a video of one of his sons interviewing the band’s songwriter about the fallout.

Introducing his four children to Noel, Sheward said, “This is dad’s legendary band!” Immediately, his curious kids started asking questions.

His daughter queried, “Wait, is he getting back with his brother?” Noel confirmed with “yeah”, referring to the 17 UK shows Oasis announced earlier that week. Then, a pressing question came from one of the boys, “Why did you fall out with your brother?”

Noel, with his characteristic humor, responded, “‘Cause he stole my teddy bear.” This cheeky response entertained both the kids and their dad.

Not entirely convinced, one of the boys claimed, “You’re lying!” To this, Noel doubled down, “I’m not lying. He stole it in 1978.” Another child, disappointed, walked away holding a Winnie the Pooh teddy bear, exclaiming, “You’re a fake. See ya!”

The children were later seen walking with Gallagher outside the shop, inquiring if the black Rolls Royce parked across the street was his. Noel humorously confirmed and asked the youngster if he had his license. Sheward later commented on his interaction with Noel, “A true gentleman in scholar.”

Oasis is set to perform their first shows since 2009 next summer as part of the Oasis Live ’25 world tour. So far, only the dates in England and Ireland have been announced. Additionally, only the Gallaghers have been confirmed for the shows, with the rest of the band’s lineup yet to be announced. More dates around the world are expected but have not been formally unveiled.

Tickets for the shows will go on sale to the general public on Saturday (August 31).
