Officials: Fatal standoff with gunman in Louisiana results in shooting of 3 police officers

Three police officers were injured during a standoff with a wanted gunman in Louisiana. The gunman, Michael Lathers, was wanted for attempted murder and armed robbery. The incident started when police were called to a residence where two people had been shot. Lathers was fatally shot by a deputy after a failed negotiation attempt. The wounded officers are in stable condition. The standoff occurred in Kenner and the officers were transported to a local hospital. Lathers, who was pronounced dead at the scene, had a history of violent crimes.
